What is ORAC?
ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is a unit of measurement used for the valuation of antioxidant content and developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture USDA in conjunction with National Institute of Health and National Institute of Aging. The ORAC value is expressed in micromole Trolox Equivalent per 100 grams or µmol TE/100g. While it is only one of the ways to evaluate of the total antioxidant content TAC, it is considered by scientists to be the more preferable method due to its biological relevance to in vivo (within living organism) antioxidant efficacy.
