BERRYGANICS began in a one-year-old’s bedroom. It was 4 a.m. when an unusual cry came from our firstborn’s bedroom. It wasn’t a typical cry for milk or a diaper change. This cry sounded like a siren, and it was letting us know that there was a problem.
When my wife ran into the room to see what was wrong, she found something that changed our lives: blood covering our baby’s hands and face a few trails of blood in the sheets. Our baby had been suffering from eczema for months, but this time he itched himself so hard that he started bleeding.
That moment was when we said, “Enough is enough!” No child should have to endure this, and no parent should watch their child go through such pain. When something isn’t going right and no one else can help your situation, you must take matters into your own hands. And that’s exactly what we did.
We began to educate ourselves on the matter, looking for an answer on how to improve our lives. More so, how to improve the health and the lives of everyone around us in small ways to make a big impact.
The Brains Behind BERRYGANICS
Hi, we are Fayyaz and Maryam, and we are the proud owners of BERRYGANICS. We are parents to three handsome and amazing boys, who have been an inspiration to our business.
I started out as an electrical engineer, and with that background and a keen interest on the latest industry trends, my interests and experiences have led me down the path of health and full-spectrum wellness. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer and a Sports Nutrition Specialist. I apply my research and science background to my passion for healing, wellness, and holistic living.
My wife Maryam is a committed and supportive housewife, loving and devoted mother to our three boys, and a master chef. Gifted with traditional and contemporary culinary skills, Maryam possesses the keen ability to creatively make each meal delicious and healthy using only clean ingredients.
We love to workout or incorporate some dedicated movement throughout the day and enjoy training martial arts as a family out of Trident Martial Arts in Woodbridge, VA.
We train under Master Pat Tray, who is a former Navy Seal with a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). He is also a Black Belt level Full Instructor in Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do (JKD), Filipino Martial Arts FMA (Kali), and Combat Submission Wrestling (CSW). He has trained and received certifications under Dan Inosanto, Rigan Machado, and Erik Paulson.
In addition, the boys and Maryam trains with Becky Bringham, who runs the kids and Women’s BJJ program at Trident Martial Arts. Becky is a Black Belt in BJJ under Rigan Machado and is a Full Instructor Qualified in Combat Submission Wrestling under Erik Paulson. She is also a fierce BJJ competitor with over 500 competitions to her name all the while going to school full-time.
