What is an ORAC and how much ORAC is in the Elderberry Syrup and Aronia Magic?

ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. It is a measure of the amount of antioxidants in a given food product or supplement. Developed by the United States Department of Agriculture USDA in conjunction with Brunswick Labs in Southborough, Massachusetts. ORAC score or value is a useful indicator of total antioxidant content. The higher the ORAC, the more the antioxidant potency of that given food product or supplement. While not official, some researchers at the USDA recommend consuming about 3000-5000 total ORAC (measured in micromol Trolox Equivalent/100g) daily from foods and/or supplements.

Our Premium Elderberry Syrup contains lab verified 675 total ORAC per teaspoon serving. While, our Aronia Magic contains 4300 total ORAC per tablespoon serving.
